The Rusty Lantern is a one of kind restaurant. From the old western atmosphere to the friendly owners and staff, this place is unique to the area. Their prime rib, fried mushrooms, and handmade desserts rope me in every time I come to town. The portions are great and everything is reasonably priced. Barbara and Kelly Hart not only make sure the quality of their food is above and beyond, but they make sure their customers are enjoying every minute of their dinning experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants food and service that makes you feel at home.

Beloved local spot... sometimes I feel like it’s a secret place only a few of us locals know about but am quickly reminded upon walking into a full restaurant how well loved they are! I keep it simple and often get a burger and fries. Their fries are perfect fresh house cut fries that are hard to stop eating. Don’t skip out on the buttermilk pie for dessert! Or fresh strawberry pie... can’t skip that either 😉

We stumbled upon this place when looking for breakfast on Google. We are so glad we did! We arrived about 15 minutes after breakfast ended, but were impressed with the lunch menu, so we stayed. Everything was GREAT! I posted pictures of our meals. We ordered: Reuben, jalapeño burger, bacon cheeseburger-no bun, French dip, and mac-n-cheese kids meal. The staff is friendly and welcoming to this crowd from Texas. Is it ironic that the best french fries these Texans have ever eaten were in IDAHO?

We went in with high hopes having moved in near by. We made a reservation and were sat quickly. We sat for about 10 minutes without menus or service. I finally went and asked for menus. Our server came and took our order then Someone brought bread to our table. There were six of us and the bread was slightly larger than a dinner roll. However it came with a bowl of butter that was larger than the bread. A while later they brought one of three salads. We waited and waited and waited then I got up and had to go ask for our other salads. We could see the server stacking baskets and figured she forgot. They then brought one salad and we had to ask for the other, I had to explain what we order and salads came with three of our dinners. Then we had to ask for a drink that never came For our kids meal. The food wasn’t bad but it was just a disappointing experience all around. I would love to see them succeed but we probably won’t go back. The fries are great!

We really loved the decor and the people. Prices were a bit more than expected but the food and service were excellent. Great coffee

This place used to be a hidden gem but is getting more well known all the time as evidenced by their full parking lot each time we order from here. I wish they had two things. First would be a couple of more food options on their menu and the second would be more parking. Everything here has a great hometown taste and is a great option when cooking at home isn’t an option for whatever reason.

Always great food and plenty of it. I tried something new, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup over Mashed Potatoes; it was surprisingly delicious.

This is a great local place and the food is amazing. If you through, get the taco soup and fry bread. Well worth the money! Great portions!

We are from out of town and tried this on a whim. So yummy and the staff were friendly. The cheeseburger and fries tasted homemade. A nice change from fast food!!!

The flies were everywhere, landing on our arms, table, curtains, window, etc. Felt like we needed a net around us. Food was good, not great.

I can't believe this place has been in business almost 10 years and I just discovered it yesterday! It's an awesome place to eat!! The owners and staff (who are mostly family of the owners) are extremely friendly and attentive! The food is delicious 😋👌! My husband and I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner there since yesterday because it's so good! The hamburgers, homemade fries, homemade biscuits and gravy and homemade hash browns are SOOOOOO yummy!! The dessert we chose was really good, we had homemade apple boysenberry crisp. Biggest complements to the chef! If you haven't checked this place out, you should!!

This place is rutic, snug, homey, has great personality and a basic delicious menu. The burger I had was tasty and big enough that I took some home. Will go back. Peace!

Went there for lunch, and it was really good. They made me a sandwich that wasnt even on the menu. The staff and food were both great!

First time here and it was amazing! The portions large enough to share. This is some of the best breakfast food. I was so happy to try this homemade food. It is a change from all the commerical places. I can't wait to come back.

Food was amazing, the burgers were delicious, the cheese was real, the bacon was thick, and the fries were fresh cut. Great hometown vibe, it seriously felt like were went back in time 50 years. Cozy country decor and 1970s country music. If you ever find yourself in Ucon Idaho you have to check this place out!

Great little find off the beaten path and a local favorite never would have found it if my brother didnt take us there. Had the philly steak sandwich full of flavor and delicious.

Great! I find it interesting that a lot of these diner gems are in the middle of "nowhere," as it were. And this one is worth seeking out. I enjoyed the atmosphere. A sign on the door kindly asks you to put your phone away and talk to each other. As music by Johnny Cash and the like play in the background, you're treated to friendly service, a concise menu, and delicious food. The wait time was just right. I had the broccoli cheese soup and chicken fried steak. Recommend. Happy eating!

Decent breakfast. One of the servers seemed really bubbly & friendly. Unfortunately, she wasn’t our server. The service we received was awful. She was rude from the get go, and didn’t check on us once after she took our order. This has been the second time we’ve gone and received attitude/poor service from the same woman. That being said, we won’t be going back to pay for someone to be rude to us. It seemed as though only a specific clientele was welcomed into their diner and unfortunately for us we didn’t fit that mold.

Old-time country atmosphere makes the whole restaurant cute and cozy. The food is all homemade and delicious! Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Biscuits and gravy are amazing, but the skillet browns with homemade toast is the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted. If you don’t mind raisins, the homemade cinnamon rolls are absolutely delicious!

Stopped by for breakfast before heading out of town and was pleasantly surprised! Our server, Sheldon even offered and magic trick to keep us entertained. Food was served hot, fast and delicious. The hash browns were amazing!

Some amazing food! Great home atmosphere. As you go inside you are welcomed with a sign that says "No wifi. Talk to each other." Love it. Definitely need to go back.

This is our 2nd time for dinner here. We liked the first visit better. They had a little trouble getting our steak cooked right but kept trying until it was perfect. It was a great steak! This is a friendly home town diner, lots of nice people both customers and workers. We will definitely do this again. Prime rib is fabulous!

This small town eatery has the best food and customer service. If you want to feel like your at home and get great food this is the place for you.

Excellent food!! Had the chicken fried steak and it was very yummy! The homemade mini loaf was delicious, and their homemade honey mustard poppysead dressing was delicious on everything! Don't forget to finish with banana cream pie!

Best place for prime rib. Go early on saturday. Only served until it's gone. Also served with mini loaves of fresh baked bread. Great home style cooking and wonderful service.

Every time we visit this part of Idaho we make an effort to eat here for breakfast. Outstanding food. Nice people. Huge, delicious homemade cinnamon rolls. Tasty bacon. My favorites are the browned skillet plate and biscuits and gravy. Worth the short jaunt off the highway.
